Control IntelliCraft product tour
Scattered documents, manual work, errors
A project's engineering information is spread across PDF drawings, Excel lists, datasheets and reports.
In this tour
Engineering document vision, from PDF drawings to structured data: tag detection, IO list matching, cabinet assignment, full traceability and the roadmap. About 5 min.
- 01 · THE CHALLENGE
Scattered documents, manual work, errors
A project's engineering information is spread across PDF drawings, Excel lists, datasheets and reports. Tags are copied from drawings by hand, checked by eye against the IO list (the list of inputs and outputs) and assigned to cabinets manually. The result is slow and error-prone. The goal: turn scattered documents into structured, traceable engineering data.
- 02 · PLATFORM
From drawings to structured data
PDF drawings, the IO list and datasheets go in. Module 1 extracts junction box (JB) and marshalling cabinet (MC) tags from the drawings with OCR, automatic reading of text in images, and machine learning. Module 2 assigns junction boxes to cabinets automatically. The outputs are Excel, an annotated PDF and a report, processed on a server inside your organization.
- 03 · MODULE 01 · JB DETECTION
Module 1: automatic extraction from drawings
The PDF drawing is uploaded and the JB and MC boxes on it are found. OCR reads the tags and sorts them into JB, MC and spare. Each tag is matched to its row in the IO list by similarity, and mismatches are flagged. Outputs: Excel, an annotated PDF, a JSON report for other software and a ZIP package.
- 04 · MODULE 02 · IO ASSIGNMENT
Module 2: automatic cabinet and rail assignment
The IO list, the cabinet layout and channel capacities go in. Junction boxes are sorted by their IO count, and the specified spare capacity is kept free on each rail. Junction boxes are packed onto rails, keeping intrinsically safe (IS) circuits apart from the rest (NIS). The Excel output has three sheets: the assignment, an input report, and statistics with a chart.
- 05 · USE CASES
Four uses in engineering projects
Document analysis: tags, JBs and MCs are extracted from drawings automatically, with a matching report. IO automation: junction boxes are assigned to cabinets automatically, within physical and safety constraints. Quality control: data errors and logical inconsistencies are found and reported automatically. Full traceability: every tag from the PDF drawing to its Excel row, with cabinet, board and channel.
- 06 · BEFORE / AFTER
The same work, without the repetitive manual effort
Tag extraction: from manual to automatic. IO list matching: from checking by eye to automatic. Cabinet assignment: from manual to automatic. Traceability: from limited and slow to complete, from PDF to Excel.
- 07 · ROADMAP
What it does today, and where it is going
Today: tag and JB detection, cabinet assignment, Honeywell and Siemens projects, and several users at once. Next: an engineering assistant that answers in plain language, JB patterns learned from past projects, a live dashboard and custom reports. Later: data exchange with the EPLAN, AVEVA and Siemens COMOS design tools, several projects at once, and mobile access. Planned capabilities are not available yet; the needs of real projects set their order.
- 08 · ENGAGEMENT
From assessment to operation
Needs assessment: your project's documents and formats, and one measurable goal. Design and development: inputs and outputs aligned with how your engineering team works. Installation and testing: deployment on a server inside your organization, tested on real drawings. Training and support: training your team and ongoing support.
